I've been meaning to post this easy little kiddo activity for some time now, but keep forgetting! We'll be doing this again and again. It was super simple to set things up and my kids were left to their own devices for quite some time, while I go to do awesomely fun things like... clean the kitchen after they made a mess at lunch time. Ah well, it's the little things.
I saw the idea for painting popcorn here, and couldn't resist. I thought Audrey would go nuts over it.
There's really not much to this...
You need:
- milk
- food coloring
- food to act as your canvas (popcorn, marshmallows, bread, anything light in color!)
We used popcorn and marshmallows. The popcorn was already made and marshmallows were easy.
I used a muffin tin to mix the milk with food coloring and presented it to Audrey with an array of paint brushes.
I got to thinking...why not do the same for Jameson?! Little dude is only 19 months, but I thought he'd have a fun time painting too. I didn't think he'd care much to paint food and he's a little young for popcorn, so I just set him up with some 'milk paint' and a piece of paper.

The great thing about milk paint is it it's totally edible...
nutritious too!
And maybe best of all, the kiddos then get a colorful, edible snack and THEY did all the work. Love it.
I know it's cliche, but save this one for a rainy day. Easy and entertaining!
Happy WEEKEND!
