So, we're back home from the beach and things are back to normal. Well, summer 'normal' which isn't normal at all - me, working just 3 days a week and having lots of extra time to plan fun day trips with the kiddos. Not 'normal,' but I sure am loving it. Even though it's summer, it's feeling like early fall around here - breezy and the temps are much cooler than expected for this time of year (high 70s the past few days!). This weather is making me excited for all the awesomeness that fall brings - scarves, cider, changing leaves. But, I'll try not to get too ahead of myself. For now, I'm enjoying the summer and the time I have with the kiddos before we're *all* back to a full-time schedule in a few short weeks.
Today, we've really been making the most of the relaxed summer days as well as the cool, comfortable weather. We took a trip north to Plumpton Park Zoo, which I highly recommend to my Maryland locals! It was about an hour drive for us, the park was very affordable, and the kiddos could get up close and personal with a variety of animals. Audrey even got to feed a giraffe (okay, we had to pay $5 for that, but still!). My sis-in-law and my sweet niece joined us and we packed a picnic lunch to enjoy after we saw the animals. I'd say we spent about an hour and 30 minutes touring the animals.
My son was not amused by picture taking during this whole outing...
Audrey will happily pose
not even a smile - he's like "What is wrong with you, Mom?!"
what's up, giraffe?!
We got home just in time for little dude's nap and once he wakes up, we're headed to pick our CSA farm share (best thing ever!) and spend some time at a local vineyard for their Thursday festival - think wine, food, sunshine, and music. Not bad, eh?
So, I'm loving this weather, but summer, please stick around - I'm not ready for you to end just yet!
