I'm a very, very lucky gal.
Have I mentioned that before?
Yeah, I thought so. But really guys, I mean it. As you all know, because I won't shut up about it, I recently defended my dissertation and completed my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. My degree is conferred 8/31, so I guess I'm not technically a doc just yet, but eh, pretty much! For my graduation present, my lovely in-laws gave the Mr. and I very sufficient funds to throw a wonderful party for my family/friends to celebrate my achievement.
Given that these are the peeps who helped me get to the point where I could apply to graduate school and make it through, it only seemed fitting to gather them together for a celebration. They say parenting 'takes a village,' but I think getting your Ph.D. does! Without my crazy kiddos to give me perspective, my amazingly supportive and patient husband, my cheerleader mother who encouraged me to keep going even when I sometimes questioned it, my amazing in-laws, and boat load of friends who constantly gave me the support and breaks that I often needed... I'm not sure I could have done this.
It really DID take a village.
So, the village came together this past Saturday to celebrate... no more school (ever!!!!), no more dissertation (ever!!!), and the title of Dr.
|Me: ready to party! Dress: Pac Sun, Cardigan: Target, Necklace: J.Crew, Shades: Ray Bans|
We had the party at this adorable restaurant/bar in Mt. Washington village of Baltimore - Mt. Washington Tavern. Mt. Washington Tavern catered the event and the food was DELISH - turkey sandwiches with fried green tomatoes, crab dip, calamari, fried mac and cheese (oh yes we did!), wings, bruschetta, and caesar salad. I don't think anyone went hungry. I had 2nds!
If that wasn't enough, we also had delectable cupcakes from Hamilton Bakery.
I'm a sweets expert and let me tell you their red velvet cupcakes were the BEST I have ever had. I've made some damn good red velvet cake, but these cupcakes were unreal!!! We also had salted caramel (drool!) and vanilla for the boring folk ;)
Mostly, it was a time for me to chill with the village that helped me make it, enjoy great food, yummy drinks, and just soak up the love. I had a **fantastic time**

You will notice that my munchkins didn't join us for the party. I love them dearly, but I knew I wouldn't be able to talk a single soul with my clingy love Jameson. My wonderful mother volunteered to watch them (between you and me, she preferred watching them to coming to the party, so really, it was a win win!)
When we got back home, I spent a couple hours hanging with the little dude, while Miss A headed home for an overnight with my Mom, which she was beyond excited about!
My little bro and his wife stayed to hang and stayed overnight - SO fun.

What an amazing weekend! I felt loved, blessed, and supported before the party, but man I was beaming with happiness afterwards. Thank you to every single person who was a part of this day and to those who couldn't make it, but wanted to, you rock, too!!
