So, it happened. My baby decided it was okay to grow up and go to kindergarten. Her first day was Wednesday and I was a lot more emotional about it than I had expected. Miss Audrey has been in the care of others since she was a baby, I'm used to leaving her, she's used to long days... so why was this so hard?
I guess it just symbolizes her really becoming a little girl and not a baby.
She was super excited about her first day of school outfit, which I agree is freaking adorable. I purchased the dress when Audrey wasn't with me and it's a miracle she loves it. Girl has her own style.
Dress -- Gap Kids
Necklace - Claire's (Audrey's 'like favorite store ever')
Shoes - Toms
[Side note on the Toms, Audrey bought the same pair (literally the same color, sequins, size) less than 6 months ago and wore those suckers INTO THE GROUND. I was stunned! Like wore holes into them... she did wear them literally every day. We had to go buy the exact same pair - no variation in color because 'pink's the best.']
|showing me how heavy her backpack is ;)|
Shaun did drop-off in the morning since that will be our typical routine. Miss A is going to before/after care, which has made me a little nervous. Shaun said *he* had a harder time with drop-off than Audrey - she just ran off and played with friends.
When I picked her up at the end of the day, around 4:45pm, she greeted me with a big scowl that told me she was NOT happy to see me. The director at the after care center told me they were getting ready to watch a little movie and I had interrupted at apparently just the wrong time. I guess that answers the question about before/after care. I think Audrey enjoyed that part of the day more than school ;)
She told me it was a great day and she really loves her teacher. She got "a little sad" at story time and "cried a little." That hurt my heart to hear, but she brushed it off and said she "got over it pretty quickly." I'm so proud of her and am excited about what this year has to offer.
Audrey was SUPER excited when Daddy got home and brought her a 'first day of school treat' (purchased by her wonderful Papa).
Yep, my 5 year old's most favorite treat would be...
She is so her father's daughter. (you guys know I don't like seafood, right? Let alone RAW seafood. bleh) But, hey, whatever makes the gal happy.
So, ready or not, my gal is officially a kindergartner.
