Hi everyone. You may, or may not have, noticed my absence over the past week. I'm here as a quick check-in, but am not ready to return to blogging in any sort of 'regular' way.
Since Shaun and I have been married, and we've known other married couples, I've noticed the way people talk about their in-laws - some with absolute disdain...especially mother-in-laws! I've known many friends to speak of their MILs as if they are absolutely evil and to be fair to my friends, some of the treatment they've received has been far less than stellar.
I was never able to relate to that.
My mother-in-law was an amazingly kind, compassionate, funny, and gentle woman - she extended that beautiful nature to me from the very first time we met (really!) 10 years ago and it never waivered.
Very sadly, she passed away suddenly and without warning this past Monday and our family is shocked, saddened, and heartbroken.
In time, I hope the tears lessen and we are able to fully celebrate my amazing MIL's life. She was incredible and not a day will go by that she will not be missed.
One thing that has been overwhelmingly apparent this past week, is how strong our family and friends are and how truly loved we are. We've had more hugs, love, cards, food, and support than we know what to do with. Thank you to every single one of you who has reached out. We are blessed to have you in our lives and hope you know you are cherished.
I'll be back on here eventually, but in the mean time, our family is banding together and taking things one day at a time. Please send us your positive thoughts and prayers (if you're into that). We'll take all we can get.
